What is the CDS Exam?
CDS is a national-level exam. UPSC held this exam all over India. After clearing this exam, many candidates get selected into the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. CDS Exam Pattern
The CDS Exam Pattern varies for different academies. The pattern of this exam includes objective-type questions and is conducted offline. The pattern is as follows:

CDS Syllabus 2025
In the CDS Syllabus 2025, the English section tests candidates on grammar usage, vocabulary, spotting errors, sentence improvement, comprehension, and synonym-antonym recognition.
In this exam, when it comes to understanding the GK part, this part of the syllabus is used to evaluate the candidate’s awareness of current events. This also includes topics from Indian history, geography, polity, Economics, physics, chemistry, biology, and defense-related developments. In the mathematics section, it is applicable only for IMA, INA, and AFA aspirants. This includes arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, mensuration, and statistics.

CDS Cut-off & Selection Process

The previous year’s cut-off for the CDS Exam always depends on different academies. For example, the Indian Military Academy (IMA) had a cut-off of around 130-135 marks. On the other hand, the Air Force Academy (AFA) and Indian Naval Academy (INA) had slightly higher cut-offs at around 135-140 marks. These cutoffs vary annually based on factors. Selection Process
The CDS Selection Process includes a written examination. To crack this exam, after the interview, you also have to meet the criteria mentioned for the medical examination.
SSB will invite those students for an interview who have cleared the written exam. Now, the interview assesses their personality, leadership, and aptitude. In the last part, after passing the interview part of the exam, the candidate has to appear for a medical examination and also has to pass it.
